the financial Police is executing an arrest warrant against several individuals accused of being part of a group capable of driving the tax appeals and to obtain “easy” tax relief, upon payment of a fee. Over one hundred men of yellow flames are involved in arrests and searches concerning, among other things, also some tax courts.

The operation, called “Pactum sceleris”, is coordinated by the Rome prosecutor who speculates against those involved in ‘investigation of the allegations in a criminal association aimed at extortion and corruption also in judicial acts. From the investigation had revealed that those arrested would constitute a veritable “clique”, a criminal organization can guarantee to taxpayers affected by the findings of the Treasury to emerge victorious in the appeals to the different Tax Commissions. Or, again, to get substantial relief from taxes by financial offices. All this, of course, took place against the payment of compensation to members of the group on the part of the taxpayers concerned. They are involved in the investigation, as well as some tax courts, including employees and retirees of the financial administration, lawyers, consultants and accountants.
