‘Ndrangheta, Caridi arrested: the DDA was the clan instrument in Parliament – The Republic

Not an attempted political criminality, but a conscious instrument of the strategic direction of the ‘Ndrangheta, forged exclusively to infect institutions. So the judges of Reggio Calabria define Senator Antonio Stefano Caridi, who was arrested with the approval of Senate and House this afternoon held at Rebibbia. Accused of Mafia association, the DDA the political is one of the “tools” of the clans in Parliament. All the clans, not only those of the ‘Ndrangheta.

Election after election, assignment after assignment, to build the Caridi political career would be the strategic direction of the’ Ndrangheta, the Calabrian of a larger organism face – and yet unknown – representing all the gangs. I repented they call “national commission” or “What new” and for decades – say – coordinating strategies criminal mafias throughout Italy and beyond, thanks to “reserved” as Senator Caridi. He who almost moved argued in court that he had never had to deal with organized crime, is in contact from the beginning of his career, with what prosecutors believe one of the Calabrian wing leaders of the Thing new. It is lawyer’s Paolo Romeo , former Member of PSDI, already condemned definitely for collusion and recently finished again in prison for criminal association and other offenses.

For the DDA, Romeo has always been to direct the senator’s political action. Following the lawyer’s directives, as city councilor in Reggio Calabria, Caridi oversaw the creation and management of joint ventures, which have become over time a real piggy bank for clans. In the region instead he worked to divert funding of projects and associations like the strategic direction of the ‘Ndrangheta. In Parliament, Caridi was called to play the most important game for Romeo: the definition of faculties and powers of the emerging metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria. A city-state in the statutory plans, which also means the senator dreamed of achieving institutional path for the dream of giving the ‘Ndrangheta, a small nation.

All “services” – explain the magistrates – rewarded with packages the votes of the different clans, obtained with the blessing of the historical leaders like Don Peppe Pelle. At home the boss, Caridi occurred shortly before the regional 2010. Of that, there are no conversations because the bugs placed inside the house had not yet been activated. But the cameras placed outside tell the warm greeting between the political and the ‘Ndrangheta men. The same as – intercepted – had prophesied “The good ones we send them to Rome.”
