At fifty, sixty maximum, the immigrant once he returned to the country of origin. Even more so if he had made a fortune. Today, at the same age, often takes the opposite route, to go and live abroad. This is demonstrated by a research center dedicated to the study Cna ‘New Migrations. “

In the years of the crisis, between 2007 and 2013, approximately 620 thousand people emigrated from Italy. Almost double compared to the previous seven years. Only in 2013 have left the country more than 125 thousand adults. In the vast majority, over 80 thousand, were Italians, the rest were immigrants who have left our country in search of a future that is not seen here.

The new boom, however, is driven by its emigrants with gray hair. In the period 2007/13 the increase of expatriate Italians aged between 40 and 49 years was 79.2%. In the range between 50 and 64 years, economic growth reached 51.2%. The young people who have decided to emigrate, in percentage terms, increased by less: 44.4% how many were between 15 and 29 years, 43% band 30-39 years.

In absolute terms continue to be young, of course, to migrate to a more impressive: in 2013 36.3% of the total was between 30 and 39 years, 27.8% between 15 and 29 years. In the meantime, however, rose to 21.9% in the band 40-49 years and 14% for those between 50-64 years old.

What is the profile of those who emigrated after the halfway point of the forty ‘year old? In the absence of more accurate data it can be assumed that they are social groups affected by the crisis. People that lack of skilled occupations does not allow to exploit. Probably, even entrepreneurs who aim to ‘sell’ their experience abroad, in emerging markets and not reflective like the Italian one.
