Earthquakes: the earth trembles in Syracuse, fear but no damage – ANSA.it

Several mild to medium intensity earthquakes were recorded on the Italian territory.

An earthquake magnitude 4.6 was recorded by INGV tools around 16.30 in the province of Siracusa, at a depth of only 4 km. The quake was clearly felt by the population in the provinces of Ragusa and Catania. Several calls arrive at the civil protection switchboards and firefighters but, from the first information, there were no damages to persons or property.

Another quake with a magnitude of 2.5 was recorded at 15:27 in between the provinces of Fermo, Ascoli Piceno and Macerata. No significant damage to people or buildings. The towns closest to the epicenter are Montemonaco, Montefortino, Amandola (Fermo), Comunanza (Ascoli Piceno) and Bolognola (Macerata). The quake had a depth of 7 km.

Since this morning, finally, to 4.47, five earthquakes were recorded by INGV in the Ragusa area, the last of magnitude 2.2 to 17.03. A stronger shock of magnitude 4.2 was recorded at 15.35 around Palazzolo Acreide in the Syracuse area to a depth of 4 km. The epicenter of this strong quake clearly felt by the inhabitants of some municipalities, who took to the streets for fear, it is still close to Ragusa and was recorded at 14 km from Ragusa. After that of 4:47 in the Ragusa three aftershocks of magnitude 2.1 were recorded, in addition to the last. Some residents of homes on the upper floors of buildings Palermo claim to have felt a jolt around 14:30.
