Crime of torture, the House approved the bill with 244 votes in favor – magazinedonna


 

E ‘finally got the green light to the bill that introduces the crime of torture , as discussed in recent days. The vote took place yesterday and were 244 votes in favor, while opponents were just 14:50 abstained. Now bill back to the Senate for final approval, at least that’s what we hope.

Planned of very heavy penalties for those who torture, or the new offense is punishable with a imprisonment ranging from 4 to 10 years old for anyone, with violence or threats or violating their requirements protective care or assistance , intentionally causes a person entrusted to him or under his authority physical or mental suffering in order to obtain statements or information or inflict a punishment or win a resistance or even by reason of ‘ethnicity , sexual orientation or political or religious views. Provided, further aggravating the specifications, in the case of serious injury or death; if, in addition, to torture is a public official or public service officer with abuse of authority, or in breach of its duties , penalty is increased from 5 to 15 years. There is no immunity, and in fact foreign nationals accused or convicted of torture in another State or by an international tribunal can not enjoy immunity from jurisdiction. If required, will be extradited.
