Parisi and Toti: the derby of the center – right

the center – Italian right is in confusion and even more than that Forza Italy which political party is the unifying; some time ago Toti had been crowned by Berlusconi as a “new man” that would bring back the fogged destinies of FI.

 Toti, a moderate with good intentions, has done his task with diligence, but then perhaps succumbed to the lure of institutional power and became President of the Liguria Region. At this point inevitably he had to overshadow the party and this has caused a vacuum that the former Knight tried to fill first with Marchini and then with Parisi, though fresh from a local defeat in Milan.

 There is also to say that the thought of Berlusconi on the role that should play Parisi is probably not clear even to himself and probably varies between that of a CEO who has to deal with the FI “liquidating” reaching out to a true coordinator political and the ability to be a leader in all respects.

 In fact the idea is that the former rider to drive there must be a manager and not a professional politician.

 So was the rest expected that the “old guard” of FI reacted negatively to the intrusion of yet another pretender to the throne, so here that the same Toti, Brunette, Romans (for the occasion again united), Matteoli and Santanchè guide the frond within FI; also used the opportunity to support Parisi -which made it known to be possibly available to run for primarie- Prestigiacomo and Micciche in the south, while the Carfagna takes a cautious neutral line on the issue.

 So the geopolitical landscape of the center – right you are drawing is that of a north face adverse Parisi and facing the south that sustains it for tactical reasons.

 In all this, the dominant theme is the relationship between FI with the League of Salvini and Brothers of Italy, after ripping that has consumed the Roman municipalities that could not fail to have national reflexes.

 Salvini, you know, does not at all liking for Parisi (in Milan has supported for convenience.)

 Parisi has called a convention in Milan on 16 and 17 September which was accepted with frost by Northerners dissidents.

 The game is still on, but the scales will, as always, Berlusconi.
