– L’Aquila has stopped to remember the 309 people who died at 3:32 the night between 5 and 6 April 2009 in earthquake that sowed destruction also causing 1,500 injuries and 70 thousand displaced. The procession started at 22.30 on Sunday, arrived in Piazza Duomo, where they were read the names of the victims and the bells beat 309 strokes.
The procession marched in its path before many of the symbols of the tragedy, first of all the student’s home, in which there were eight young crash victims. Several religious services that were held in the city: the church of St. Joseph the Worker, in Piazza Duomo, and in the church-tent of Santa Maria del Soccorso, near the monumental cemetery. Some families of the victims have led in procession a banner with the slogan “the fact there but kills”, in reference to the judgment of the Court of Appeal which acquitted six of the seven members of the Major risks. At the commemoration, as well as thousands of citizens were the president of the Regional Council, Giuseppe Di Pangrazio, the mayor of L’Aquila, Massimo Cialente, and the mayor of Pescara, Marco Alessandrini.
In the parade also representatives of associations born after other tragedies, such as that of Viareggio and ThyssenKrupp. Associations merged into a coordination that Monday will meet in L’Aquila to develop the program of a national conference on law and justice, which should take place in Rome.

Monday, April 6, at 12, Don Daniel Pinton, rector of the “Holy Souls”, celebrated the first Mass in the chapel of memory dedicated to the victims and realized in the monumental complex of the church. The chapel will be consecrated April 10 by the metropolitan of the capital, Monsignor Giuseppe Petrocchi; will have a space of celebration and one specifically for the memory, it will host two large plaques engraved with the names of 309 dead in the earthquake.
