Christmas:I got the tree in St. Peter’s square,comes from the Trentino – LOOP.it

We arrived in the night in St. Peter’s square the Christmas tree: it is a spruce with a height of 25 metres coming from the forests of the Lagorai, in Trentino. It was donated by the Municipality of Scurelle. At the time of cutting, on the 13th of November last, – as reported by the Radiovaticana – the children of the local primary school have planted forty new seedlings of red fir and larch in a area not far where last autumn have been felled some trees affected by a parasite. The wood of the fir, as every year, will then be used for the purposes of the charity, The Christmas tree will be opened on the next 9th of December, at 16.30, along with the nativity scene which this year is from Malta.

will Remain lit until the night of Sunday, the 8th of January, the feast of the Baptism of the Lord and the conclusion of the Christmas season. Also this year the tree will be adorned with the reproductions of spheres of clay representing the drawings made by children in care at the oncology departments of some hospitals in italy.

These children, along with their parents, have participated in a programme of ceramic-recreational therapy in the labs at the hospital of permanent, coordinated by the Fondazione Contessa Lene Thun Onlus. On the shaft there will be 18.000 bulbs with led technology, of which 1,400 to effect spark, for a consumption of just 1.7 KW.

On the morning of December 9, the delegations of thirty and maltese, together with some of the children who have made the balls, will be received in audience by the Pope for the official presentation of the gifts.
