Sotheby’s record beats by $ 31.5 million for a pink diamond

The auction in Geneva has 175 sales , 1 million $

New sales record in the magnificent jewelry industry: the auction that Sotheby’s held May 17 in Geneva invoiced the highest turnover ever, 175.1 million dollars (155 million euro), (surpassing herself than the sale in Geneva in 2015 with which he had set the record of 160.9 million dollars) with 83% of lots sold, 70% of the sold lots awarded above the maximum estimate, three lots awarded over $ 10 million, six lots more than 5 million dollars. The sale was dominated by spectacular and rare pink diamond “fancy vivid”, from 15.38 carats, sold for $ 31,561,200 ($ 2,052,092 per carat), clarity VVS2, world record for a stone of this type. The sale has also recorded a new record for an online purchase with a pair of diamond earrings, one blue and the other pink fancy fancy orange, for 9 million dollars. Online purchases have seen a growth of 41% compared to the number of lots sold in the same way last year. Participants in the sale of Geneva were received from 45 countries, and 25% of the total number of Asian countries. Other records to be reported, a jewel of Reza from an aristocratic collection, consisting of a pin with a diamond of 6.64 carat intense blue color sold for $ 13,672,493, surpassing the previous record of Sotheby’s in May 2010 in Geneva.
