New circular Police raises levels of security in Italy – Il Sole 24 Ore

The invitation to verify the existence and compliance of these security measures is contained in a circular of the Chief of Police, Alessandro Pansa.

The new circular, in agreement with the Minister of Interior to prefects and quaestors territory, further raises the security measures already stepped up in recent days. “The current international scenario, with particular reference to the incidents that occurred in France, requires a review of the safety provisions and objectives to submit to supervision,” it said in the circular. The police chief urges, therefore, “to promote urgently ‘technical meetings of coordination to gather information in order to identify all sensitive targets. The recommendation is to “determine whether the security measures already put in place the current requirements” and to provide, where necessary, the strengthening of the surveillance of possible targets of terrorist actions. The Quaestors are also invited to sensitize the staff to use, where indicated, of measures “self-defense”, such as flak jackets.
