Here is the comment of the premier Italian Matteo Renzi the disputes recorded these days by the judiciary: “Today again complaints of some judges who exploit institutional initiatives (judicial year) to argue against the government. And I’m very sorry because I think that the great majority of the Italian courts are good people, who dedicate their lives to a great ideal, and they do it with passion. But I find it ridiculous – and I say, without mincing words – that if you have a month and a half of vacation and you are asked to give up a few days, the reaction is: “The prime minister wants us to die of work.” We only want quick judgments, right. We want the culprits to really pay bribes and finally with the prison but serve the sentences, not the rumors in the newspapers. A civilized country must hav e a system fast, fair, impartial. To get quickly to judgment, we must simplify , speed, eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, to go as we are doing on the telematic process (so no longer loses the folders of the proceedings as also happened last week). We must also enhance the good judges, saying just the overwhelming power of the currents which today are stronger in the judiciary that is not in the parties. Who tells me, are you crazy to say this stuff? You’re not afraid of revenge? I respond by saying that in Italy no honest citizen should be afraid of judges. And our judges need to know that the government (in accordance with the independence of the judiciary) is ready to lend a hand. We are here. Italy, which is the home of law before the homeland of holidays, deserves a better system. The memory of the magistrates who died killed by terrorism or the Mafia requires us to be serious and rigorous. We do not want to “die working” anyone, but we want a justice system faster and easier. And, controversy or no controversy, step by step, we’ll get there. “
