Long, long day in the Senate to approve the Jobs Act, the enabling law for the labor reform. After a frantic morning – with the protests M5S which prevented the Labour Minister Giuliano Poletti to finish his speech – the Minister for Institutional Reform, Maria Elena Boschi, presented in the Senate a maxi-amendment which entirely replaces the bill and has placed reliance on this text. No mention of the provision in Article 18, but a delegated decree – announced Poletti – eliminate the reinstatement for economic dismissals and limited to discriminatory dismissals and the more serious cases of disciplinary dismissals.
The first called for the vote of confidence was set at 21 in the afternoon but the times have been stretched. The debate on the timing of the work of the Assembly, decided by a majority of the conference of leaders, went for long. The calendar was approved in new protests – including the launch of papers and books against the President of the Senate, Pietro Grasso – only around 19, blocking the work of the Budget Committee which must be expressed on the financial backing of the maxi-amendment. Grasso has suspended the session. The assembly is then resumed at 20 with a general discussion on the maxi-amendment and explanations of votes that have protatte more than expected.
The vote of confidence comes in the night
The call for a vote of confidence (originally scheduled for 23) started at 0.10 hours . The vote is obvious and happens to call: each senator parading in front of the presidential desk declaring their vote aloud. O’clock at night, the maxi-amendment of the government entirely replaces the enabling law on labor reform on which the government has placed the trust gets the green light from the Senate with 165 “yes”, 111 “no” and 2 abstentions. Senators present were 279; 278 voters. The majority was 140.

The announcement of the Woods has arrived in the late morning after the brawl broke out in the House to the Senate with shouts, signs, some push and some coins to the government benches.
