(Edit title, updates with known Rai)
ROME, August 6 (Reuters) – The board of directors of RAI today unanimously appointed new general manager of the manager Antonio Campo Dall’Orto television.
This was announced by the same company public radio and television in a statement.
The name of Campo Dall’Orto had already been circulating in recent days, and the premier Matteo Renzi had expressed appreciation.
Field Dall’Orto, 50, is best known for directing the MTV Italy for several years, but has also led La7 and is a director of Viacom. From 2014 is a member of the board of the Italian Post.
As dg Rai replaces Luigi Gubitosi, took office in 2012.
The board of the public broadcaster is newly appointed. The seven members appointed by parliament were elected on Tuesday, while yesterday the shareholders appointed the director Monica Maggioni (upheld by the RAI Vigilance by qualified majority) and the representative of the Treasury.
The new dg the next few months should see increased his powers, once approved in parliament the reform of RAI, which will make a figure like a CEO.
