Flag New Zealand. Rejected fern All Blacks – La Gazzetta dello Sport

Do not change: it remains with the Union Jack and Southern cross. New Zealand has chosen and the surprise is great, because no one expected that the banner national could remain the same after the referendum that was to decide whether to keep the British symbol. It looks like: rejected so the silver fern.



57% to 43% – The alternative design to the current flag was selected by popular vote. The latter shows the native silver fern, the national symbol of sports in from rugby, and even the Southern Cross. According to the survey results, 57% reject the change while 43% said it was favorable. More than 2 million people voted in the referendum. The alternative design was chosen by the voters of the five examined by a committee of experts from a shortlist of 40, in turn selected from the approximately 10,200 proposed by the public. According to the organizers, a similar decision by popular vote is unprecedented in the world, as other countries have switched sides with a revolution, by law or by decree.
