Rome, tram-train collision at Porta Maggiore: 5 injured – The Messenger

Accident in Rome between the Termini-Giardinetti line train and a tram line 3. There are at least 5 others injured. The clash took place in Porta Maggiore in the center of the capital. The train was coming from Termini station and for unknown reasons has driven onto the tram instead proceeded towards San Giovanni. In a violent clash of the wagon train he left the rails, rising and remaining poised on the wheels to the right.

At the moment – says the Atac, the municipal Transport which manages both lines- “there has been only minor abrasions for five passengers.” On-site they intervened police, firefighters, medical personnel and technicians Atac. “As a safety precaution – to a note – the driver of the train was still driven to hospital for checks, but his condition is not giving rise to concern. Procedures have already been taken to remove the cars and clear the square. ” The Atac has opened an internal investigation “to shed light” on the incident.
