“Milan is proud to celebrate with you the Day of the remembrance in a time in which Italy will stop to remember the massacres and the exodus of thousands of citizens. Today in the afternoon, for the first time, during the session of the municipal Council, will be dedicated to a moment of reflection and tribute to the victims of the tragedy of the Foibe”. He said the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, during his speech on the occasion of the Day of remembrance, in largo Martiri delle Foibe in Milan. “For too many years, on those crimes, there was a silence, guilty, motivated by different reasons, sometimes opposing, but, equally, unjustifiable,” added the mayor. The Day of remembrance, together with that of Memory, dedicated to the victims of the Shoah, are “moments of a single path that this administration has undertaken, in order to consolidate a common memory based on the awareness of the horrors provoked by the hatred, racism and intolerance”.
“We have to welcome them”
