Gentiloni’s visit to premier the Central Italy earthquake. “We’re going to rebuild it by beating the bureaucracy” – The Republic

the ROME - After a visit by minister of Foreign affairs, Paolo Gentiloni back in areas of Central Italy affected by the earthquake for the first time by the chairman of the Board. In one day, a particularly delicate one, Christmas eve, to hear to the affected populations repeatedly, and since the soul from the calamities of the proximity of the government. Moving into the helicopter, the premier arrived in the morning to Norcia, and then moved on to San Ginesio, and to get finally to the town of Amatrice.

Norcia, in the province of Perugia, Gentiloni was welcomed by the president of the Umbria Region Catiuscia Marini, the vice-president Fabio Paparelli, by the mayor Nicola Alemanno, and by the benedictine monks, including the new prior, Father Benedict. Accompanied by his wife, once in Norcia, devastated by the earthquake on the 30th of October last, Gentiloni immediately went inside the historic centre, stopping in front of the ruins of the Basilica of San Benedetto. “The reopening of the historic centre of Norcia,” declared the president of the Council – it is a sign of willingness to resume, rebuild and, above all, to look to the future. I am glad if I can encourage you with the commitment of all the Institutions”. After viewing the status of jobs, Gentiloni was laid off from Norcia and commented: “Technically, the work has been done to great quality.” San Ginesio, in the macerata area, the helicopter of the premier landed in the sports field of the small mountain town, where there to welcome him were the mayor Mario Scagnetti, the president of the Marche Region, Luca Ceriscioli, the commissioner for the rebuilding, Vasco Errani, head of the civil Protection Fabrizio Curcio. Gentiloni was greeted by the applause of a school, while a child delivered a letter to you. The chairman of the Board he made a tour in the part of the historic center is still accessible, surrounded by the crowd and by the authorities, to which is added the president of the regional Council of Marche Antonio Mastrovincenzo, walking in the midst of people without any particular formalities. Then we ventured into the red zone, off limits to journalists following the visit.

At the end of the patrol, Gentiloni has wanted to: “ensure the resources for the reconstruction after the earthquake there, but there must be also the commitment of all to overcome bottlenecks and bureaucratic to move forward very quickly. The problem is not a money – said the premier -the government has allocated the necessary resources, is a problem of work together. To avoid that the commitment of citizens to return and to revive small towns as important is hindered by many difficulties and bureaucratic”. For Gentiloni, priority interventions must involve schools and cultural heritage. And San Ginesio, the “city of a hundred churches”, has stressed the need to “secure” those “symbols of San Ginesio”, a “huge tourist attraction”.

the Same script to Amateur, the province of Rieti, destroyed in the terrible night of August 24th, where the chairman of the Board is landed in the late morning. Visiting the red zone, Gentiloni does not have a hidden feel especially still “hit”, even at a distance of four months from the earthquake. “It’s hard not to bring the town of Amatrice in the heart after the horrific images but also very beautiful I saw today. The devastation that you see here you see it gives the sense of tragedy – to the words of the premier -. Come here and you realize how much the situation is difficult and complex. The hit to the town of Amatrice was particularly heavy. Now we need to rebuild in order to restore hope in one of the most beautiful villages of Italy”.

the president of The Board then visited the yard where they are in the course of the implementation of the top 25 housing solutions emergency (Sae) at the ex-Lazio. A first signal of resumption, the “cottages”, which will be ready the first days of January, and will host 25 homeless families from the 24th of August. “Here,” he stated, Gentiloni – not just think of
rebuild, but also to the future, emphasizing the vocations of the territories. Amatrice is now a symbol in the world: this leads to great potential but also great responsibility”.

At the end of the visit, Gentiloni has invited you to watch with positive realism to tomorrow. “There is optimism on the part of the auditors and of the populations to rebuild and start over. It is a complex work, but rebuild means to give the future. We must have the awareness that we expect a complex work, the reconstruction of a large territory, – has noted in conclusion, the premier -. But at the same time, we must remain optimistic, because although there is still much to do, there are the will and dedication to do so, and to restore to Italy one of its most beautiful territories”.

Before taking leave, Gentiloni has expressed pride for “this amazing game of the team that there was between the institutions. Italy – again underlined – do not forget these places. And the government, after the exceptional commitment of Matteo Renzi, will keep the theme of the reconstruction at the centre of its agenda”.
